Lucy specialises in Criminal law. She defends for a range of criminal solicitors in the Crown Court in all areas of criminal law both alone and as a led junior. Her practice encompasses the full range of criminal offences. Her practice has encompassed the following areas amongst others; murder and serious violence, fraud, arson, driving offences causing death, sexual offences, drug importation and supply, robbery and offences against public justice. Lucy has also acted for doctors and pharmacists facing criminal charges arising from their work. Lucy also has a developing area of practice in appeals against conviction and sentence, applications to the Criminal Cases Review Commission and applications for special leave to petition the Privy Council. From April 2010, Lucy will be focusing on Appellate work. Recent Cases:
Publications Lucy is a contributing author (together with other members of Doughty Street Chambers) to a book published by Oxford University Press: Human Rights in the Investigation and Prosecution of Crime (Jonathan Cooper and Madeline Colvin eds) - OUP 2009 A Prisoner's Guide to Adjudications: Journal of Prisoners' Race Discrimination Unit - published Spring 2006 She is a regular columnist for A Life in Crime, published by the Solicitor's Journal. Other Prior to coming to the Bar, Lucy developed considerable experience in asylum and immigration law as part of the Immigration Team at Tyrer Roxburgh & Co representing appellants before the AIT. She maintains an interest in immigration related criminal offences. Lucy has also gained experience by assisting the Prisoners' Advice Service and the Prisoners' Race Discrimination Unit. She has expertise in the area of prisoners' rights, encompassing parole, disciplinary proceedings and all related areas. |
