Gemma Daly

Prior to being called to the Bar Gemma worked as a Specialist Welfare Benefits Adviser and Appeals Caseworker for Macmillan Cancer Support and Citizens Advice. She then moved to the Free Representation Unit where she represented clients and supervised volunteers in the First tier and Upper Tribunal as Assistant Legal Officer for Social Security. She is currently a member of FRU’s Management Committee.


Gemma has also interned for the UNHCR’s Legal Protection Department in London, volunteered for Liberty, and spent 3 months with the Women’s Centre for Legal Aid and Counselling in the occupied Palestinian territory.


Alongside her work at Macmillan and Citizens Advice, Gemma completed an LLM in Human Rights, Conflict and Justice. The SOAS Law Journal has published 3 of her articles worked on during her Masters. 


LLB 1st class honours, University of Bristol with study abroad at the Università degli Studi di Siena.
