Richard Maxwell QC

Richard Maxwell has a common law practice. Until taking silk his work was mainly personal injury and commercial litigation, and he specialised in medical negligence defence work and mining cases for NUM claimants. As a silk his practice has extended to include crime, public inquiries, planning, judicial review and Official Referee work. He represented the local authority at the Hillsborough Stadium Disaster Inquiry and the subsequent inquest.

A former lecturer in law at Nottingham Polytechnic, he is currently a member of the Legal Studies Advisory Committee of the Nottingham Law School.

He lives in Nottingham and is a member of Ropewalk Chambers there. His practice extends throughout England and Wales. He is a Recorder of the Crown Court and a Deputy High Court Judge.
