Court of Appeal overturns murder conviction and re-considers weight to be given to gunshot residue evidence: James Wood QC and Tunde Okewale appear for Dwaine George

The Court of Appeal has today handed down its judgment in the case of R v Dwaine George

Mr George was convicted of murder in 2002.  His case was subsequently taken up by the Innocence Project and Pro Bono unit of Cardiff University’s Law School, who successfully lobbied the Criminal Cases Review Commission to refer the case.  Today’s judgment quashed his historic murder conviction on detailed re-evaluation of the weight to be given to gunshot residue evidence.

Mr George was represented by James Wood QC and Tunde Okewale
