Daily Mail pays substantial damages in Gypsy defamation case

By an agreed order lodged in the High Court on 26 November 2015, the Daily Mail and MailOnline have published apologies and agreed to pay substantial damages (the sum being subject to a confidentiality clause) and costs to a prominent member of the Gypsy and Traveller community. Mark Henderson and David Lemer acted for Mike Linfoot in defamation proceedings against Associated Newspapers in respect of articles published in the Daily Mail and MailOnline, which the Defendants accepted "may have been understood to mean that Michael Linfoot made false allegations of racial abuse in the prosecution of Jose Hampson for aggravated harassment".

Mark Henderson and David Lemer were instructed by Howe & Co Solicitors.
