Defendant accused of kidnapping a Namibian “Prince” at gunpoint acquitted in 16 minutes.

Piers Marquis of Doughty Street Chambers represented a defendant charged with the gunpoint kidnap and robbery of a man who claimed to be Namibian “Royalty” who was unanimously acquitted in 16 minutes at Snaresbrook Crown Court. The defendant was said to have been the main player in the abduction but ran a positive defence alleging that the complainant was a rogue diamond dealer who had fabricated his alleged involvement when a 250 carat deal went wrong.
