Edward Fitzgerald QC named silk of the year.

Edward Fitzgerald QC has been named as Human Rights and Public Law Silk of the Year. (Chambers Bar Awards 2013.)

 

Previous commendations include, Legal Aid Lawyer of the year in 2009, the winner of the Silk of the Year award in 2005 and Times Justice Human Rights Award in 1998. Furthermore in June 2008 he was awarded the CBE for services to human rights.

 

The announcement today confirms, the '"incredibly charismatic" Edward Fitzgerald QC remains assured of his position among the nation's leading silks, with sources attesting that "his constitutional knowledge is second to none." "A man who has all the law at his fingertips," he has been involved in a number of high-profile extradition cases including the long-running battle over Gary McKinnon's extradition to the USA.'

 

Edward specialises in several areas of law including criminal law, public law, judicial review and international human rights law.

 

Doughty Street Chambers has also been shortlisted as Set of the Year in Human Rights and Public Law, together with Adam Straw as Junior of the Year in the same category.
