High Court grants a Group Litigation Order in civil claims brought by the victims of the Hillsborough tragedy

Today 465 claimants who are bringing a claim for misfeasance against the Chief Constables of South Yorkshire and West Midlands Police for the cover up by police officers in the aftermath of the Hillsborough Tragedy were granted a Group Litigation Order under which to bring their claims. This marks an important first step in their seeking to hold the police officers to account for the lies they perpetrated in order to deflect blame away from officers of South Yorkshire Police onto the Liverpool football supporters for the tragedy.

Heather Williams QC and Alison Gerry acted in today’s hearing. Fiona Murphy, Caoilfhionn Gallagher, and Nick Brown are also acting in the civil claims.
