Hillsborough families seek prompt inquests

A pre-inquest hearing in the resumed inquests into the Hillsborough disaster will take place in London on Thursday 25th April 2013. Heather Williams QC, Henrietta Hill and Caoilfhionn Gallagher act for bereaved families. The families seek a ruling that the inquest hearings commence as soon as possible.

The original inquests verdicts of accidental death were quashed by the Divisional Court in December 2012, following a highly critical report from the Hillsborough Independent Panel into the tragedy and subsequent cover-up. Lord Justice Goldring has been appointed as the Coroner for the fresh inquests. At the hearing this week he will hear submissions on issues including the timing and location of the inquests themselves.

Henrietta Hill is instructed by Broudie Jackson Canter and EAD Solicitors. She acts for 20 families. Heather Williams QC and Caoilfhionn Gallagher are instructed for another bereaved family by Bindmans.
