JCWI and Doughty Street Immigration host screening of Into the Fire

20.06.13 | |

The film by Guy Smallman and Kate Mara shines a bright and penetrating light on the mistreatment of migrants in Greece.  We were delighted that both Guy and Kate were present to share their insights and to discuss their experience of making the film.  Judith Farbey QC highlighted the film’s themes in a legal context, touching on access to asylum procedures, low acceptance rates, systematic detention and racist violence.  She stressed the call of figures within the UN for solidarity and responsibility-sharing between EU member states in order to ensure respect for the human rights of migrants. The film can be viewed at http://intothefire.org/.  We wish to express our thanks to JCWI for organising the evening.
