Migrant families entitled to local authority support

The Divisional Court (Munby LJ and Langstaff J) has held that migrant families should generally be supported by local authorities rather than having to rely on austere 'section 4' support from the Secretary of State. Two mothers (VC and K) suceeded in showing that Newcastle City Council's decision to terminate their family's support was unlawful. The decision will potentially benefit thousands of other migrant families. The Claimants were represented by Steve Broach.
