Old Bailey jury clears Tower Bridge protestors of Public Nuisance

24.10.13 | |

Three defendants accused of causing a Public Nuisance have been acquitted by an Old Bailey jury. The three activists from the group “Climate Siren” abseiled off Tower Bridge and displayed a 60 foot banner across the Paralympics logo. The defendant Fiona Brookes, represented by Piers Marquis, maintained that she could not have foreseen the extent of the disruption alleged by the Crown. Police evidence that the demonstration directly caused the closure of the bridge did not stand up to scrutiny.
