Successful challenge to £50m School Closure consultation

Powys County Council has been forced to re-start a statutory consultation process in relation proposals to close Brecon High School and Gwernyfed High Schools, and build a new £50m campus in Brecon.

Nicholas Bowen QC and David Lemer, instructed by Michael Imperato of Watkins & Gunn solicitors, acted on behalf of a concerned parent of Gwernyfed High School.  The successful judicial review challenge highlighted Powys County Council’s failure to follow its own policies as well as the Welsh Government’s School Organisation Code.
