Successful defence of double murder prisoner

Joe Stone successfully defended a prisoner, serving 40 years for a notorious double murder (of Laurent Bonomo and Gabriel Ferez), on allegations of taking a prison officer hostage at a Category A dispersal prison. The defendant was cleared of all charges, (false imprisonment and making threats to kill) at Reading County Court on Friday 9th November 2012. Despite video evidence showing him chasing the prison officer (from behind), jumping on his back, putting a knife to his throat and threatening to slit it, the case involved a complicated psychiatric defence where the jury accepted he was acting in self defence.
