The HLPA Conference 2015 : Housing Rights & Righting Wrongs

On Tuesday 8 December Stephen Reeder co-presented a seminar on mental capacity and tenants' rights with Paul Ridge of Bindmans LLP at the HLPA Conference 2015. Delegates enjoyed a rousing keynote speech from Campbell Robb (chief executive of Shelter) followed by a media presentation on the Act for the Act campaign from the renowned journalist and campaigner Fiona Bawdon. Martin Westgate QC chaired a panel discussion on homelessness with Karen Buck MP, Matt Downie (director of policy & external affairs for Crisis), Joanne Kennedy (chief executive of Z2K), and barrister Shu Shin Luh. The closing address, "Challenges on the Horizon in 2016" was delivered by Jan Luba QC.

Stephen Reeder was chair of the conference organising committee and commented "Despite the challenges of 2015 HLPA goes from strength to strength and its members continue to provide high quality specialist advice and representation in housing law. It was particularly poignant to hear the traditional closing address from Jan Luba QC in light of his recent appointment as a Circuit Judge. He has been an inspiring and influential figure in housing law. He will be an outstanding judge. The bench's gain is our loss."
