Verdict of not guilty entered in the case of Abdul Hannan

Not guilty verdicts were entered in the case of R v Abdul Hannan on 20th May 2014. Mr Hannan was tried for the murder of Harjit Chaggar whose body was found in a void under the lower ground floor of the Sani Globe food store in Chatham, Kent in September 2013. After a six week trial Mr Hannan’s co-defendants were convicted of murder. The jury were unable to agree in relation to Mr Hannan and the Crown did not seek a retrial. Rebecca Trowler QC and Richard Thomas of DSC represented Mr Hannan, instructed by Birnberg Peirce and Partners.
