Doughty Street Criminal Appeals Unit is delighted to present the last in the series of seminars by experts on criminal appeals and reviews.

This seminar is aimed at solicitors and case workers involved in challenging decisions of the Magistrates and Crown courts. It will include a detailed analysis of tactical issues and updates on the latest case law. The seminar is be worth 1.5 CPD points and will be followed by refreshments with wine.

Benjamin Newton explores the legal, practical, and ethical issues arising when a case requires criticism of trial counsel. Expert evidence in the Court of Appeal - The Court has often been reluctant to allow unsuccessful defendants to “expert shop”, but compelling new scientific or medical evidence can still win appeals. Joel Bennathan QC looks at the dangers and opportunities of calling fresh expert evidence on appeal.
