Doughty Street Chambers and the British-Albanian Lawyers Association are delighted to host a presentation on Wednesday 12 October 2016 at 18:00 by His Excellency Judge Ledi Bianku of the European Court of Human Rights on ‘The ECHR and Asylum’.

 

The evening will be chaired by Doughty Street Associate Tenant Judge Ann Power-Forde SC, former judge of the European Court of Human Rights.

 

Judge Ledi Bianku practised as a lawyer in Tirana between 1994-2006, during this time he also lectured in law at the University of Tirana. He has held a number of advisory roles that include the OSCE Legal Counsellor in Albania, ad personam to the President of the Republic, President of the Parliament, Minister of Justice, and the Minister of European Affairs from 2000-2007. In February 2008 Judge Bianku became the Albanian judge at the European Court of Human Rights.
