Percy specialises in media and information law.

Over the pupillage year, Percy gained experience across the range of media disputes, including defamation, privacy, harassment, malicious falsehood and data protection claims, reporting restrictions and European and international freedom of expression matters.

Prior to pupillage, Percy worked as a copywriter and freelance writer and later as a paralegal at a leading media law firm. During his time as a paralegal, he worked across a range of media disputes and managed his own caseload.

Percy has contributed analysis and case briefings on defamation, data protection and privacy law for publications including LexisNexisPSL and the International Forum for Responsible Media Blog (INFORRM).

Media Law

Percy has advised across the range of media disputes. His recent cases include: 

  • Drafting written submissions for several media organisations in an open justice matter.
  • Advising a range of clients at the pre-action stage.
  • R v Hill - Assisting Edward Fitzgerald KC in drafting the skeleton argument for a successful appeal against conviction in the Cayman Islands.

Together with Jonathan Price KC and Nikila Kaushik, he is currently an editor of Atkins vol. 16 on Defamation.
