Appealcast

Episode 2: The Court of Appeal "checklist" for sentencing children and young people

The recent Court of Appeal Criminal Division judgement in ZA [2023] EWCA Crim 596 represents a sea change in the approach to sentencing children and young people in the criminal courts. In this latest edition of Appealcast, Paul Taylor KC discusses the background and implications of ZA with Maryam Mir who was junior counsel. ZA was Isabella Forshall KC's last appeal case before her tragic passing shortly before the judgement was handed down. It is a fitting tribute to Issy's brilliance and sensitivity in her representation of the most vulnerable members of society.
