International Women’s Day 2026: Celebrate with Doughty Street Chambers

09.30 (Registration) – 18.15 (Drinks finish)
Saturday 7 March 2026

Every year since 2016, Doughty Street Chambers has brought together lawyers, judges, politicians, campaigners and academics to mark International Women’s Day by asking “What more the law can do for women and girls?”

In 2026, the need to stand and work together is more important than ever. Join us on 7 March!

Deborah Frances-White (The Guilty Feminist), will join Baroness Helena Kennedy KC  in conversation, looking at how the challenges for women’s rights have changed since 2016 and the threats we face now.

Panel discussions will consider issues pressing in 2016 and more so now: Sexual Harassment and Power will focus on sexual harassment in the workplace and beyond and the Criminalisation of Women will examine the experience of women in the criminal justice system. We end the day with women Changemakers discussing the experiences women face when they use their voice to make change, including by using or challenging the law.

Our guest speakers include Jo Hamilton OBE, former subpostmaster, author of “Why are you here, Mrs Hamilton? Poppy Jay, documentary maker and co-creator of Brown Girls Do It Too, Sile Reynolds, Freedom from Torture, Jule Schnakenberg, World’s Youth for Climate Justice, Kathryn Chadwick and Becky Clarke, Manchester Metropolitan University, Vanessa Wiggins, Bark & Co, Emma Norton, Centre for Military Justice, Dilraj Sokhi-Watson, Equate Scotland, Zelda Perkins CBE, Can't Buy My Silence UK, and Harriet Wistrich, Centre for Women’s Justice.

We will also be joined by a host of exceptional Doughty Street Chambers speakers including Aswini Weereratne KC, Head of Chambers and Chair of Doughty Street Chambers Management Board, Maya Sikand KC, Farrhat Arshad KC, Angela Patrick, Harriet Johnson, Abimbola Johnson, Lameesa Iqbal, and Nancy Hollander.

Our programme is now live, with a few surprises yet to be announced.

We hope you can join us for what promises to be an inspiring and action-packed day. The event will be taking place on a hybrid basis, with tickets available to attend in person and online. There are a limited number of places for in-person attendance, and the ticket price includes catering, a crèche and a drinks reception following the event.

This year the global theme for IWD is GivetoGain. Doughty Street Chambers is supporting Women for Refugee Women as our selected charity for IWD 2026.

For those who are able, we invite you to consider even a small donation to support Women for Refugee Women and the continuation of their hugely important work.  Any donations can be made here.

Crèche services

We will have a crèche service available, at no additional charge, but advance booking is required.

In order for us to arrange the appropriate level of support from the provider, Jumping Stars, please help us by letting us know how many of your children will attend the crèche, and their ages and any special needs, by completing the survey form once you place your order.

We hope to see you on 7 March 2026.

This event is sponsored by Instant On IT.
