Doughty Street Chambers invites you to a discussion on strategic litigation in housing and social welfare, with Jo Underwood (managing solicitor of the strategic litigation team at Shelter) and Jamie Burton (barrister at Doughty Street Chambers and founder and chair of the board of trustees of Just Fair, a charity promoting economic and social rights in the UK).

Jo will speak about Shelter’s evolving approach to strategic litigation and its interventions in DA/DS & others (challenge to the benefit cap) and Samuels (on intentional homelessness). Jamie will discuss the role of economic and social rights in strategic litigation and his involvement in recent strategic challenges, including DA/DS & others and the challenge to the “right to rent” scheme. The event will be chaired by Martin Westgate QC.
