India’s Daughter exclusive screening

Date: Sunday 11 October 2015

Time: 17:00

Location: Regent's Street Cinema, 309 Regent St, London, W1B 2UW

PLAN INTERNATIONAL (UK) and LESLEE UDWIN are pleased to invite you to the exclusive screening of the Directors’ Cut of the ground breaking film India’s Daughter, to mark UN International Day of the Girl, a day when we celebrate girls’ rights globally. India’s Daughter tells the story of the brutal gang rape and murder of Jyoti Singh in Delhi in 2012, exposing the attitudes to women which allowed it to happen. The film powerfully explores the wider social reasons behind the prevalence of sexual violence and shows that through the biggest mass mobilisation in India since independence, millions of Indians were no longer prepared to see women and girls abused. India’s Daughter is a powerful, courageous and heart-wrenching documentary that shines a spotlight on the issue of violence against women and girls – an issue that lies at the heart of Plan’s ‘Because I am a Girl’ campaign, the world’s biggest campaign for girls’ rights. The event will be an opportunity to put questions to the panel and gain insight into the shocking mindset of the perpetrators.
