Paul Bowen QC, Rebecca Trowler QC and Caoilfhionn Gallagher have appeared this week in these landmark cases in the Court of Appeal.

Paul Bowen QC, instructed by Saimo Chahal at Bindmans, acts for Jane Nicklinson (widow of Tony Nicklinson) and Paul Lamb. Both argue that the Divisional Court was wrong to dismiss the claims of Tony Nicklinson than the ban on assisted dying violated his rights under Article 8 ECHR, including his rights to autonomy, dignity and self-determination at the end of life.

Rebecca Trowler QC and Caoilfhionn Gallagher act for the British Humanist Association, instructed by Yogi Amin and Conor Maguire at Irwin Mitchell. They are intervening in the appeals of Jane Nicklinson, Paul Lamb and a third person known only as 'Martin.'
