Human rights of incapacitated autistic man violated by local authority

Following a five day hearing, a High Court Judge today declared that the London Borough of Hillingdon acted unlawfully and violated Steven Neary's right to family life and deprived him of his liberty in a support unit between 5th January and 23rd December 2010. Steven Neary was represented by Aswini Weereratne who was instructed by Sophy Miles of Miles and Partners, solicitors, with the Official Solicitor acting as his litigation friend.
