Should young Muslims who fight for the Free Syrian Army and have no intent to attack the UK be sentenced more leniently than those who join ISIS?


On 18th November the Court of Appeal heard a sentence appeal and reserved judgment in R v Sarwar and Ahmed. Joel Bennathan QC and Richard Thomas appeared for the Appellants, with Ali Bajwa QC of Garden Court, instructed by Gareth Peirce of Birnberg Peirce and Partners.
