John Hobson returns from the West Bank

24.03.17 | |

Doughty Street’s John Hobson has recently returned from the Northern West Bank, occupied Palestinian Territory where he spent 3 months as part of the long-standing Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme for Palestine and Israel which works with Palestinian and Israeli peace groups, providing protective presence to vulnerable communities and monitoring human rights violations.

Speaking on his return John said it had been a tremendous privilege to work alongside grassroots human rights groups and individuals living in isolated communities. A key focus of his work involved monitoring agricultural checkpoints, settlement expansion and military incursions.

John previously visited the region with the group Avocats sans Frontiéres as part of a delegation examining the Palestinian housing crisis in East Jerusalem generally and the neighbourhood of Sheikh Jarrah in particular.
