Not Guilty on All Counts

Joel Bennathan QC, instructed by the Smith Partnership, secures the acquittal of Ross Lowndes at his trial for murder at Nottingham Crown Court. Lowndes was one of four doormen accused of kicking a party-goer to death outside a popular Leicester venue. The evidence was made up of a numerous eye witnesses, blood spatter evidence and CCTV. Tried before Mr Justice Dove, it was one of the first joint enterprise trials after the Supreme Court decision in Jogee.
