R v Kenten - Court of Appeal reduces sentence

On 20 May 2014, the Court of Appeal (Pitchford L.J., Nicola-Davies J., and the Recorder of Cardiff) reduced the sentence of a young man convicted of possession with intent to supply class A drugs from 2 1/2 years to 2 years. In so doing, the Court accepted counsel's submissions the the sentencing judge erred in applying the Sentencing Guidelines and also found that this was an exceptional case which merited a sentence well below the normal category range.
