RAF Fairford anti-war protestors compensation

Heather Williams QC and Nick Stanage, instructed by Bindmans LLP, represented anti-war protestors prevented from attending a demonstration at RAF Fairford who were awarded substantial damages of over 4,000 each at Central London County Court on 8 February 2013. HHJ Mitchell found that the claimants had been humiliated and subjected to oppressive police behaviour when their coaches were turned back and they were forced to return to London non-stop under escort and without access to toilets or drinking water. The ruling was made in relation to trial of the 12 lead claims. A further 88 protestors await assessment of their compensation following this ruling.
