Associate Kate Gibson appointed as Associate Counsel for former President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte before the International Criminal Court
Associate Kate Gibson has been appointed as Associate Counsel for Rodrigo Duterte, the former President of the Philippines, in proceedings before the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
Mr Duterte faces three counts of crimes against humanity arising from alleged killings during his time as Mayor of Davao City and subsequently as President of the Philippines.
This is Kate’s fourth assignment as Counsel before the International Criminal Court, having acted previously for Jean-Pierre Bemba, Bosco Ntaganda, and Joseph Kony. She has also appeared on behalf of defendants before the UN International Criminal Tribunals for Rwanda and the Former Yugoslavia, and was Counsel to Charles Taylor on appeal before the Special Court for Sierra Leone.
