Benjamin Newton KC represents father Acquitted of Sexual Abuse

Benjamin Newton KC, instructed by Leo Martin of Freemans Solicitors, defended S who was accused of rape and other forms of sexual abuse in relation to his daughter. At the conclusion of an eight-day trial he was unanimously acquitted of all ten counts. The case involved video-recorded (s28) cross-examination of a young child, extensive third-party disclosure, cross-examination of the child’s immediate family, live expert evidence from both parties in relation to injuries, and the presentation of a detailed defence case involving evidence from the child’s paternal grandmother and aunt.
