Doughty Street Chambers mourns Sir Louis Blom-Cooper QC

Louis Blom-Cooper was one of the most intellectually brilliant counsel in the last half-century. He played a great part, both as advocate and as academic in the development of judicial review and the principles on which courts would review and overrule government actions. He was remarkable for his judicial inquiries which exposed corruption in the Caribbean very quickly and effectively. He will be remembered by leaders of today’s Bar as one who inspired them to work in human rights at a time, in the 70s and 80s, when this was looked down on by a reactionary profession.
