Doughty Street International wins ‘International Team of the Year’ at the LexisNexis Legal Awards 2026

Doughty Street International (DSI) is delighted to announce our success in winning ‘International Team of the Year’ in the LexisNexis Legal Awards, in recognition of outstanding performance in delivering legal services to the international market.
Our team was awarded for its impact, strategic leadership, and collaboration across jurisdictions, demonstrating the ability to navigate complex cross-border legal matters, provide innovative solutions, and manage high-profile international cases.
DSI’s winning nomination featured matters from across the broad spectrum of our work, highlighting the team’s involvement in wide-ranging and impactful matters of fundamental importance to the protection of human rights and the development of international law.
A fraction of key work included:
the Advisory Opinion on climate change and South Africa v Israel at the International Court of Justice;
the case of The Prosecutor v Ali Muhammad Ali Abd-Al-Rahman (‘Ali Kushayb’) (Sudan) at the International Criminal Court;
Yazidi genocide cases, including Nadia Murad and Others v Lafarge SA and Others in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York;
the historic ruling of the Brussels Court of Appeal that the forced removal and segregation of children of mixed origin born to Congolese, Rwandan and Burundian mothers and Belgian settlers by the colonial Belgian authorities constitutes a crime against humanity;
matters concerning the protection of journalists and freedom of expression, including the cases of Nobel Laureate Maria Ressa, of the British publisher and pro-democracy activist, Jimmy Lai, of Wikileaks founder, Julian Assange; Lebanese journalist Issam Abdallah; Iran International and BBC News Persian;
hostage-taking and arbitrary detention cases including the cases of Peter and Barbie Reynolds, held by the Taliban in Afghanistan, and of families of hostages of Hamas with close British connections;
Norwegian National Contact Point (OECD) PAX and others v. Aker BP ASA and Aker ASA regarding the failure of a multinational company to meet human rights due diligence standards in Lundin Asset Acquisition; and
DSI member’s involvement in work to establish the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine and The Parliamentary Standing Group on Atrocity Crimes.
