Emma Goodall KC’s client found not guilty of rape

Emma Goodall KC acted for B who was charged with the rape of a friend of his partner. It was alleged that having fallen asleep in her friend’s home the female was woken by B sexually assaulting and raping her. She left the house and immediately called the police to report the allegation. The defence case required detailed scrutiny of unused material, including social media messages, which were only disclosed after repeated applications and deployed in evidence. B, who was arrested for the offence in 2021, was found not guilty by the jury after a five-day trial.
