Homeless Link appoints Jamie Burton KC as Chair of Board

Homeless Link, the campaigning and membership body for frontline homelessness organisations, has appointed Jamie Burton KC as the new Chair of its Board of Trustees.

Homeless Link has over 800 members and works to make services better and campaign for policy change that will help end homelessness. It carries out a wide range of functions including advocacy at the local and national level, research and innovation in tacking homelessness and technical and financial support to the homelessness sector.

After a competitive process, Homeless Link appointed Jamie.

Rick Henderson, Chief Executive of Homeless Link, said: “We are delighted to welcome Jamie as Chair of our Board and are certain Homeless Link and our members will benefit immensely from his wealth of experience, legal expertise and unique perspective on homelessness, human rights and social welfare. We look forward to working with Jamie as we make progress within our current strategy, supporting and improving the sector and influencing change to systems. In particular, we hope with his support to further increase the influence of the homelessness sector with government, so that we can realise our vision of a country where everyone has a place to call home.

Jamie Burton KC comments: “It is a great privilege to be asked to take over from the indefatigable Anne McLoughlin as chair of Homeless Link. It is a truly unique organisation that by representing, coordinating and upskilling its members, amplifies the resilience, systemic impact and voice of the homelessness sector. I am enormously impressed by the energy and commitment of the staff and leadership team, including long-standing CEO Rick Henderson, as well as that of the board of trustees, and look forward to contributing towards the achievement of the organisation’s ultimate goal to end homelessness in England. Stable and affordable housing is the bedrock to a healthy and fulfilling life, and it is our collective failure that so many in our society go without it.”
