Jennifer Robinson, Kate Gibson and Nikila Kaushik instructed to act for the Australian humanitarians detained in Israel

Jennifer Robinson, Kate Gibson and Nikila Kaushik have been instructed to represent six Australians who were abducted in international waters by Israeli forces while participating in aid mission, the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) and are currently being detained in Ketziot prison, outside of Tel Aviv.

Ms Robinson, Ms Gibson and Ms Kaushik are acting for Abubakir Rafiq, Juliet Lamont, Hamish Paterson, Surya McEwan, Bianca Webb-Pullmanl Cameron Tribe, and Dan Adler, instructed by Bernadette Zaydan of Zaydan Lawyers, who has been providing legal support to the Australian delegation and the Global Movement to Gaza (GMTG) Australia-Aotearoa.

On Friday night, one day after Israel’s interception of GSF boats, local legal organisation Adalah met with 331 participants in the mission at Ashdod port. Many had already been processed without legal representation, and also reported mistreatment during the arrest and subsequently when detained in Ketziot prison. Ms Robinson, Ms Gibson and Ms Kaushik are working with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) to secure their urgent release and return home to Australia.
