Leonie Hirst appointed Judge of the Upper Tribunal, Immigration and Asylum Chamber
Doughty Street Chambers is delighted to announce that Leonie Hirst has been appointed as a Judge of the Upper Tribunal on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Alex Chalk KC MP and the Senior President of Tribunals, the Right Honourable Sir Keith Lindblom.
The Senior President of Tribunals has assigned her to the Immigration and Asylum Chamber with effect from 9 September 2024.
Leonie was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 2006. She was appointed as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, Social Entitlement Chamber in 2019. At Doughty Street she covers a range of areas including public law, immigration, Court of Protection, prison law, inquests, mental health, community care, and discrimination law. Her work has a particular focus on deprivation of liberty, mental capacity and equality issues.
