Natalie Lucas’s client acquitted of assaulting a constable in the execution of his duty

Natalie Lucas has secured the acquittal of a serving member of the Armed Forces charged with assaulting a constable in the execution of his duty following trial before the Magistrates’ Court.

The prosecution alleged that Natalie’s client had assaulted an off-duty police officer during an incident at a London Underground station.

Natalie successfully argued that her client had reasonably intervened in the circumstances having acted in self-defence of a young woman at the scene of the incident.

The defence also successfully addressed significant late disclosure issues arising shortly before trial, including the late service of additional prosecution material following an earlier ineffective hearing.

Following cross-examination of the complainant officer and detailed consideration of CCTV evidence, the Court acquitted Natalie’s client, preserving his good character.
