Paul Mason appointed as a Circuit Judge at Manchester Crown Court
Doughty Street Chambers is proud to announce that Paul Mason has been appointed as a Circuit Judge at Manchester Crown Court.
Paul will be leaving Doughty Street Chambers to take up his new appointment on 2 February 2026 and will be known as His Honour Judge Paul Mason.
Paul was called to the Bar in 2011. In 2021, he was appointed as a fee-paid Judge of the Employment Tribunal and the Mental Health Tribunal, and in 2022 he was appointed as a fee-paid Judge of the Court of Protection. He maintained a full-time practice alongside these judicial roles.
As a leading junior, Paul has defended in some of the most serious and complex cases, including murder, sexual offences and financial crime. He is widely regarded as an exceptionally well-prepared and highly skilled advocate, valued for his ability to build strong rapport with clients. His previous academic career and work at the Law Commission have brought intellectual rigour and depth to his approach to cases.
