“On 26 November 2024, a jury at the Cheshire Coroner’s Court concluded that the death of Wayne Lammond was contributed to by neglect by the Countess of Chester Hospital. Wayne suffered with a deterioration in his mental health in the months before his death. On 19 November 2021, Wayne’s sister contacted emergency services due to concerns for his welfare. Whilst at the Countess, Wayne suffered respiratory and then cardiac arrest. Whilst in resus, basic checks such as blood pressure and other vital signs were not checked by emergency doctors. Expert evidence concluded that Wayne was left without treatment for 14 minutes, resulting in a fatal brain injury.
It has been a privilege to represent Wayne’s family in his inquest. I am constantly in awe at the bravery and strength our families show, and it is extremely disappointing that it has taken 3 years for the family to know the circumstances of Wayne’s death.
A massive thank you to Lily Lewis Stephen Cragg KC Phoebe Pratt for all their hard work on Wayne’s inquest and the tireless fight to get answers for Wayne’s family. Thank you also to Selen Cavcav and the team at INQUEST for providing incredible support to the family and for all their fantastic work!”
