By now many local authorities have sought to use the new freedom afforded them by Localism Act 2011 to rewrite their housing allocation schemes.

Zia Nabi and Ben Chataway look at the impact of the changes and provide an update on recent caselaw, including R v (Jakimaviciute) v LBHF [2014] EWCA Civ 1438.

The Seminar will explore possible grounds of challenge both under Housing Act 1996 and under general discrimination and equality law, and will also review the arrangements for funding such cases.
