Doughty Street Chambers’ Housing and Social Welfare team are pleased to host the ‘Succession to Social Housing Tenancies’ seminar on Thursday 18 May 2017 at 6:30 pm.


Ben Chataway and Daniel Clarke will discuss various aspects of the law surrounding succession to secure and assured tenancies under the Housing Acts 1985 and 1988. This will include the requirements for statutory succession, "discretionary succession” and other succession outside the Acts.


They will also consider potential defences to claims against successful and unsuccessful successors, including the scope for arguments under the Human Rights Act 1998 and tactical considerations for those representing such clients.
