Post Office Scandal: convictions of five more sub-postmasters set aside

Following the referral of the cases of five sub-postmasters by the Criminal Cases Review Commission relating to private prosecutions brought by Post Office Limited between 2002 and 2005, all of their convictions have been set aside at Southwark Crown Court.

In respect of all five cases, Post Office conceded the appeal. Each sub-postmaster had worked with the Horizon accounting system. Each had been prosecuted for offences of dishonesty. Post Office Limited conceded the appeals on the basis of a mix of evidential and public interest grounds.

Kate O’Raghallaigh represented four of the five sub-postmasters, instructed by Neil Hudgell and Abby Taylor of Hudgell Solicitors. The appellants were: Andrew Gilbertson, Therese Gooding, Elaine Hood and Amer Hussain.
