The Equal Rights Trust is delighted to announce that the award ceremony for the fifth annual Bob Hepple Equality Award will take place on Thursday the 12th of September 2019 at Doughty Street Chambers in London.

The Bob Hepple Equality Award was established by the Equal Rights Trust in honour of our longstanding Chair and honorary President, Professor Sir Bob Hepple QC. The award was created to celebrate those who have dedicated themselves to advancing equality, in particular recognising the achievements of those who promote the comprehensive approach to equality which Bob promoted, and which drives our work at the Trust. We seek to honour those whose work has not yet received the widespread recognition we feel it deserves.

Previous winners have included Mauro Cabral of Global Action for Trans Equality, Professor Anna Lawson of Leeds University’s Centre for Disability Studies and last year’s winner, Shahla Ismayil, a leading Azerbaijani gender equality advocate. This year, we have sought nominations for individuals whose work has driven coalition or movement building to advocate for equal rights. Nominations closed on 7 July 2019, and this year’s award winner will be announced later this month.

This year’s award ceremony is being generously hosted by Doughty Street Chambers. The ceremony will take place from 18.30 on the 12th of September. Guests will have the opportunity to hear from our award winner and a keynote speaker – to be announced shortly. After the ceremony, drinks and canapés will be provided and there will be plenty of opportunity to network and meet the worthy winner and speakers.

To reserve your ticket for the event, please RSVP to info@equalrightstrust.org. Tickets are £10.
