Sanctions Enforcement - risks, penalties and prosecutions: an international perspective

Wednesday, 19 April 2023 | 17:30 - 19:15

Join our evening panel session organised by Rahman Ravelli, Doughty Street Chambers and supported by ThoughtLeaders4.

This seminar is hybrid, allowing for remote and in-person attendance.

The event will be of interest to stakeholders, individuals or companies who are, or may be, affected by financial and trade sanctions, and to professional advisors, general counsel and compliance professionals advising in this space.

The panel will cover a range of topics including:

  • Identifying enforcement risks and exposed sectors, from a UK, US and European Union perspective.
  • The UK Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation’s (OFSI’s) approach to enforcement: its monetary penalties for sanctions breaches, its engagement with the National Crime Agency and the scope for criminal prosecutions.
  • Comparing US and EU approaches to sanctions enforcement.
  • Trade sanctions enforcement and penalties, involving HM Revenue and Customs and its international counterparts.

The panel will be moderated by Rahman Ravelli’s founder and Senior Partner, Aziz Rahman, who has advised and represented major institutions and corporate leaders around the world on sanctions and sanctions-related litigation.

Peter Caldwell, Barrister at Doughty Street Chambers
