Adam Wagner appointed as a Commissioner to the Independent Commission on UK Public Health Emergency Powers

Adam Wagner has been appointed as a Commissioner to the Independent Commission on UK Public Health Emergency Powers, which will be chaired by The Rt. Hon. Sir Jack Beatson FBA. Adam is part of a group of 12 prominent legal and public health experts who will review the UK's public health legislative framework and institutional arrangements, alongside Government decision-making during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Commission will consider how far current legal frameworks and parliamentary procedures protect the Rule of Law and human rights, and how far they promote accountability, transparency and parliamentary control of executive action. The Commission will explore these issues in the context of securing timely and effective public health outcomes. It will make recommendations for changes in law, policy, practice and procedure, and plans to publish its findings in a report in the autumn of 2023.
