Amal Clooney Authors Washington Post Op-Ed: “A test for democracy in the Philippines”

Barrister Amal Clooney of Doughty Street Chambers published an opinion piece in the Washington Post regarding press freedom and the trial in Manila, Philippines against her client, award-winning journalist Maria Ressa. Ressa, a Filipino-American citizen, faces charges in a series of charges that expose her to decades behind bars. A ruling in the first case, in which she has been charged with 'cyber libel’ for a story written in 2012, is expected Monday, June 15, 2020.
