Andrew Hall KC represented Oliver Lewin who was convicted of engaging in preparation for acts of terrorism on national infrastructure

Andrew Hall KC completed a five-week trial at Birmingham Crown Court representing an autistic man, Oliver Lewin, who engaged in preparatory conduct in preparation for acts of terrorism; namely attacks on national infrastructure such as rail lines, roads and communication masts.

Oliver was identified by the security services as a person of interest after he joined an organisation called Resistance UK. He was later drawn into a private chat room where for several weeks he discussed his plans with undercover police officers. He was a Covid conspiracy theorist and his plan, according to the prosecution, was to disable communications in a coordinated attack in order to bring the Government down.

Sadly, Oliver who was damaged and arguably vulnerable was convicted after a trial in which the jury were not informed of his autism, following a ruling based on rather rigid authorities which limit the scope for the receipt of expert evidence.
