Camilla Palmer KC joins Doughty Street Chambers

Doughty Street Chambers is delighted to welcome Camilla Palmer KC who joins as an Associate from Old Square Chambers.

Camilla qualified as a mediator with CEDR in 2018, and trained as a workplace mediator at TCM. Prior to this, Camilla worked as an employment lawyer at leading employment firms Bindmans, Palmer Wade and Leigh Day, and in 2015 was made an honorary silk for her work in employment.

With expertise in workplace, commercial and judicial mediations, Camilla has mediated in over 100 disputes in the last few years.

In March 2014 she established YESS (Your Employment Settlement Service) with the strapline: ‘Life’s too short to litigate’. This innovative legal resolution charity advises employers and employees on how to resolve workplace disputes without litigation. YESS has established a support legal service for litigants in person during judicial mediation.

Camilla regularly gives talks about all aspects and advantages of the mediation process.  As a member of the Workplace Committee of the Civil Mediation Council (CMC), Camilla participates in the CMC’s Workplace Resolution Group, which promotes mediation and early resolution and coordinates roundtables with workplace stakeholders.

Throughout her career, Camilla has written books and articles and provided training on related areas of her particular expertise, including harassment, discrimination law, maternity and parental rights.

Mediation Team Leader Sophy Miles says, “Camilla is rightly renowned as a mediator, as well as a leading practitioner in discrimination and employment law. I’m delighted that she’s chosen to join Doughty Street Chambers.”
